Welcome!
Welcome to our new blog! You might be familiar with my other blog, http://www.thewideworldofjake.blogspot.com/, or you might be a new friend altogether.
Here on Eight Kids and a Dachshund, you'll find fun and practical advice for those of you planning on taking road trips through the Golden State. We won't just cover the obvious - great places to stay, family-friendly food and fabulous attractions - but also really important things like where to find a clean and safe restroom on the road! Hint? Presidential libraries and Target stores are great, but avoid public libraries and Wal-Mart at all cost! Believe me, with eight kids, I know what we family travellers really find to be important.
Also, if you are like me, you don't want to sacrifice good food just because you are away from home and on a budget. We'll let you know where real options exist and, just as important, where they don't. We'll let you know when KFC or In and Out really are the best, or only, options.
So, join us as we make our way through one of our favorite places - California! And please feel free to send us your suggestions for the best (cheap!) restaurants, accomodations, attractions and rest stops!
